Peter Malinauskas

47th Premier of South Australia

Peter Malinauskas was elected premier of South Australia on 24 March 2022. Before entering the Legislative Council he was the State Secretary of the Shop, Distributive and Allied Employees Association. He was first elected to the House of Assembly as member for Croydon in 2018. Malinauskas served in the Weatherill Governments as Minister for Police, Correctional Services, Emergency Services and Road Safety and then as Minister for Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse. He became Leader of the Opposition in 2018 with Susan Close as his deputy.
