Penny Wong

Penny Wong was born in Malaysia. As an eight year old she moved to Australia with her family and settled in Adelaide. Wong graduated in Law and Arts from the University of Adelaide and in 2001 was elected to the Australian Senate. Wong was appointed Minister for Climate Change and Water in 2007 and Minister for Finance and Deregulation in 2010. In 2013 she was appointed Leader of the Government in the Senate and after the change of Government she was appointed the leader of the opposition in the Senate. She is the first woman to hold both these roles. After the 2022 election, she once again became Leader of the Government in the Senate. She is currently Minister for Foreign Affairs.
